Hi, I’m a high school student who grew up with a younger brother who has autism. He is seven years younger than me, and over the years, we’ve grown very close especially through movement and play. I’ve been passionate about sports and physical activity my whole life, and I started spending time with my brother by turning simple movements into fun games. In the beginning, he struggled even with very small physical activities and didn’t enjoy moving at all. But with patience and consistency, I began to see real changes- not just in his body, but also in his focus, confidence, and ability to communicate.
This journey opened my eyes to the powerful connection between movement and brain development, especially for children with autism and ADHD. I started researching more, reading the work of doctors and therapists, and realized how impactful physical activity can be for neurodiverse children.
That’s why I decided to start a small, volunteer-based project in my own community. I’m not a professional yet- just a student who cares deeply and has real, hands-on experience. But I believe even simple, playful exercises can make a big difference. If you live in the Park Slope area and have a child with autism, ADHD, or social/ communication challenges, I would love to meet them and offer free movement-based play sessions at a local park.
This is not a business- just a small act of service inspired by love for my brother, and a wish to support other children like him.
